It’s Scott Pilgrim vs the web as Edgar Wright and his crew descended on Empire HQ and, well, pretty much took the place over. Kieran Culkin and Satya Bhahba has a wasabi pea battle, Ellen Wong played Hungry Hungry Hippos and Brandon Routh just look generally swoonsome and buff. Amid the carnage they answered your questions on Scott, superheroes and sandwiches (sadly in the chaos and due to an unknown technical glitch, Wong and Bhahba’s answers went the way of the peas). Mike91: Mary Elizabeth, I’m a fan of your films, but which was your favourite to make out of Die Hard 4, Final Destination 3 or Death Proof?
Mary Elizabeth Winstead: Death Proof was the most fun and also possibly the most rewarding because I got to work with one of my favourite filmmakers.

GuitarGal_China: Mary Elizabeth, just wanted to know what happened to Lee in Death Proof because I was hoping for an extra scene that didn’t happen?
Mary Elizabeth Winstead: We joked about several possible outcomes for her, like possibly doing a whole revenge film based on her character and the hillbilly, but I think it was all just in fun and the actual reality is a mystery.

Even after six books and an upcoming feature film, there’s still a lot we don’t know about Scott Pilgrim’s mysterious lady love Ramona Flowers. Fortunately, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead helped us shed some light on Ramona’s shadowy past.

Winstead explained that each cast member received a list from Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley detailing ten facts about their character that wasn’t in the books or the film. Ramona’s list described her pre-Toronto life:

It was just a lot about her childhood and her relationships that aren’t talked about in the books and the movie that kind of shaped who she is. And it made me understand what a sort of sad character she is at the core and not so much bad-ass and mysterious and cool so much as just guarded because she’s been through a lot of…you know.

Although Winstead wasn’t sure how much she could reveal, we did manage to coax one detail out of her, in the video above.

Universal has released a new featurette from Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.  Called “A Look Inside,” the featurette has a bit of new footage, but the best part if watching Wright talk about the movie and comparing it to a musical. His explains when emotion gets too high in a musical, people break into song.  In Scott Pilgrim, people fight.  He also explains how the film starts in the real world but it shifts in tone once Michael Cera’s character meets Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The featurette also has a few other members of the cast.
While we’ve covered this film endlessly over the past year, I still cannot wait to see this movie.  Remember, if you’re going to Comic-Con, the entire cast of Scott Pilgrim will be in Hall H and designing t-shirts for the fans.  Don’t miss out.
