Looks like Mary will be keeping herself busy this summer with a new movie. She is set to star in The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina’s yet-to-be-titled directorial debut.

Here’s the description: “Workaholic attorney, Alex [Winstead] is forced to reinvent her life after her husband
suddenly leaves. Now faced with the humdrum and sometimes catastrophic events that permeate
the fabric of our lives, Alex discovers both a vulnerability and inner strength she had not yet tapped all

Got a Girl released a new song via their Twitter. “I’m Down” is a fun 60′s pop inspired track from the Beck Song Reader album. Check it out!

We have some new information on Mary’s upcoming album, set to be released in August.

You get Got a Girl, a blossoming collaboration between actress-chanteuse Mary Elizabeth Winstead and music producer Dan “The Automator” Nakamura. With Nakamura writing the music and Winstead responsible for the melodies and the majority of the lyrics, the eponymous album will be released in August via EMI.

A chance encounter during the filming of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which starred Winstead and featured several songs by Nakamura, led the pair to an unexpected meeting of minds and musical tastes. On a whim, Nakamura invited Winstead to join him in his studio. A few sessions later, the duo realized that something fabulous and unpredictable was happening.

“It started out as just an interesting experiment,” says Winstead. “And then we realized, ‘Hey, what we’re doing is really good.’ We recorded a dozen songs, each one coming from a different place, but with a unifying vibe. All of a sudden, it felt like we were doing an album.”
