General Fan Questions
1. who haven’t you worked with yet that you would like to? – Faith
Oh, so many people! I have such an appreciation for good actors- that I am extremely excited when I get the opportunity to work alongside them. I would love to work with Meryl Streep, Uma Thurman, John C. Reilly, Phillip Seymour Hoffman…..the list goes on and on!
2.Can you tell us how you felt when you watched yourself on screen in a movie theater for the first time? – Alan
I usually start blushing and look down. I get so nervous, especially when I’m watching it for the first time with a theater full of people. It’s quite scary, but still very exciting.
3.What kind of role would you really love to be cast for? – Jerrell
I honestly want to do every kind of role possible. I would love to be a chameleon- one of those actors who can disappear into their roles, to the point where you almost don’t recognize them. That would be ideal.
4. If you were stranded on an island – what 3 things would you want to have with you? – Christine
Hmmm. I would definitely need music- so I suppose my iPod. I don’t think this counts as a “thing” but I would definitely want someone I love with me. And third- a coffee maker! Hehe.
5. Have you ever had a celebrity crush? And have you met them? – Kate
I haven’t had celebrity crushes since I was very young- I think once I became an actress, they just seem like normal people to me! I had a big crush on Devon Sawa back in the day. I haven’t worked with him, but I feel somewhat related to him through the Final Destination series!
Questions from Aspiring Actors
1. what advice do you have for aspiring actors, both of stage and film, to help them “stand out” at auditions? – Marc
I would say to just have confidence. Don’t be overconfident- but just know that you’re going to do a good job, and if you don’t get the role there will always be something else out there. Everyone always talks about “rejection” but if you look at it differently, if you don’t get the role- it’s just what’s meant to be. That’s the mindset I’ve always had, and I think it’s allowed me to have more confidence at auditions because I’m not desperate to get the part. If they want me, great- if they don’t, that’s fine too!
2. What helps you get into character before a scene?- Andrew
It definitely depends on the role- but music has always been a big help for me. It helps me get into whatever mood the scene is. Also, external things like clothes and hair and make up make a big difference for me. They take me from just being my everyday self and help push me into becoming some one else.
3. what do you think has been the biggest key to your success? Training? Networking? ect.- Jenny
I think perseverance is the biggest thing for me. There were so many girls that were acting when I first started who have all quit by now. Things are going great now, but I stuck through years of almost nothing before these great things came along. And I never got depressed or frustrated, because this is what I love to do no matter what. If you really want it, you can’t give up.
Questions from The Webmasters
1.You have fabulous style! How do you choose what you where for events? Do you use a stylist?- Liesl, MaryElizabethWinstead.org
First of all, thank you! I love fashion, and I’m very decisive when it comes to choosing outfits. I do use a stylist, and normally she goes out and gets a bunch of designer dresses for me, shows them to me and I choose which one I want. (Of course, in most cases you just borrow the dress- just so you know! I don’t have a closet full of designer dresses!) Occasionally I’ll just where something I found in a vintage store somewhere because that’s always fun and unique.
2. What do you think of your growing fame, since you are getting more notice now? Any weird fan encounter? – Sasha, MaryElizabethWinstead.org
So far, all my fan encounters have been quite lovely. It’s so nice to hear people say they enjoy the films I’m in, and things like that. The other day I was at my niece’s birthday party at a roller rink, and there were these two little boys that would scream “Sky High!!” at the top of their lungs everytime I skated by. It was really cute.
3.Favorite website [besides ours of course!]?- Angelic Mary-Winstead.org
I’m definitely on the internet a lot. I love imdb.com- I can spend all day on there looking up various actors and directors.
